Care And Warranty
WARRANTY
All items hold a standard 1-year warranty for residential/domestic use. Many items will hold longer warranties. Our sales team can provide more information based on your product purchases.
We will need a copy of the invoice for a warranty claim to be made. It is the responsibility of the customer to keep this on file, as we do not hold invoices for extended periods
For warranty to apply, the below care guidelines must be adhered to.
- ‘Clearance’ or ‘Sold As Is’ items are non-returnable. Damages advised during sale are void under warranty.
- Damages incurred during the handling of the product by the customer are not included under warranty.
Unless specified, all items are made for domestic residential use only. Using an item in a commercial/non-residential setting will void the warranty.
CARING FOR YOUR FURNITURE
General Care
Please ensure that your furniture is used as it was intended. Do not sit on arms of lounges, do not stand or jump on sofa beds, and do not pivot on the back legs of chairs.
Leather Upholstered Furniture
Condition leather every 3-4 months using a Guardsman Leather product. Keep leather away from strong heat sources or direct sunlight as it can cause discolouration or warping. If there are any spills, blot the stain away with a soft clean cloth, then clean with a leather cleaner.
Avoid wearing dark dyed clothing (eg. Jeans), on light-coloured leathers as dye transfer can occur. Avoid skin to leather contact when wearing fake tan. When moving your sofa, do not drag it, lift it as dragging can cause the legs to snap.
A NOTE ABOUT MEDICATIONS: If leather is consistently used by someone on medications it can cause a chemical reaction which may damage the leather finish. If a reaction occurs, this is not a fault in the product and is not valid under warranty. Medications most susceptible are blood pressure, heart and chemotherapy. We recommend using head/arm or sofa covers to avoid the skin to leather contact.
Fabric Upholstered Furniture
If a spill occurs, use a Guardsman fabric cleaner to spot clean the area. Do not use harsh chemicals to clean. Plump the cushions regularly to keep the cushion shape. Do not place in direct sunlight as this can cause discolouration. Avoid wearing dark dyed clothing (eg. Jeans), on light coloured fabrics as dye transfer can occur. Avoid skin to fabric contact when wearing fake tan. Do not pull-on loose threads, cut them. When moving your sofa, do not drag it, lift it as dragging can cause the legs to snap. Avoid sharp objects (rings, buckles, toys) as it can cause snagging of threads.
Lacquered & Timber Finishes
Natural timber and veneer finishes will show unique markings and colour variations which can vary from piece to piece. Do not place in direct sunlight, as this can cause discolouration and warping. Always take care not to place hot items directly onto the surface – use a trivet. Always use coasters. Regularly clean the surface by wiping with a non-abrasive, damp cloth.
Cement, Marble & Travertine
Cement, Marble and Travertine are porous materials which may stain if spills are left unattended on the surface. Always take care not to place hot items directly onto the cement – use a trivet. Never use chemicals to clean as this will wear away the sealant and void your warranty. Use warm soapy water to clean, or if need be, a Guardsman natural based stone or cement cleaning product.
